MBA Admission Criteria

The Brock MBA program seeks candidates from different professional and academic backgrounds and with different levels of experience to ensure a dynamic and diverse MBA experience.

The optimal preparation for entry into an MBA requires the equivalent of a strong broad based four-year bachelors degree with some introductory knowledge of statistics and economics. Although not necessary, professional work experience is a valuable asset. An undergraduate degree in Business Administration or Commerce may allow the applicant to obtain advanced standing into the second year (terms 3 and 4) of the program.

Application Review Process

Admission is competitive and an applicant's entire profile of academic and professional achievement will be evaluated. Personal qualities such as leadership, communication skills, motivation and dedication are valued.

All applicants will be assessed on the following criteria:

- Academic performance in a four-year undergraduate degree and any additional schooling

- GMAT scores

- Letters of reference

- Work experience

- Statement of interest

While each of these general criteria is important, strengths in one or more areas may compensate for weakness in another.

Minimum Admission Requirements

Applications for the Brock MBA program will be considered from candidates who have met the following minimum admission requirements. Possession of these minimum requirements does not, however, guarantee admission.

-Completion of a four year Canadian bachelor's degree or equivalent, acceptable to Brock University.

-At least a B (second-class standing) or equivalent grade point average

- Official GMAT results with a minimum score of 550.

-Work experience is an asset to an application but is not required.

-Applicants whose primary language is not English or who have a degree from a university where the language of instruction was not English, must provide certification of English language proficiency as follows: TOEFL (IBT) 90, or TOEFL(CBT) 230, and TWE 4.5 or equivalent; IELTS minimum score of 7.5. Applicants with a TOEFL score below 620 but above 575 may be accepted into the program conditional upon completion of a specified ESL program.

Each year a limited number of applicants with extensive managerial work experience (10-15 years of mid-management or higher level) and a GMAT score of at least 600 who do not hold an undergraduate degree may be admitted to the program. Those with a recognized certification (e.g. CA, CMA, CGA, CIM, CFA, FICB) may also be considered.
