Anteneh Ayanso

Associate Professor of Information Systems

Dr. Ayanso is an Associate Professor of Information Systems at Brock University. He teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate level courses in Information Systems/Information Technology, including Database Design and Management, Data Mining Techniques & Applications, Data Analysis & Business Modelling, and Management of Information Systems & Technology. He received his Ph.D. in Information Systems from the University of Connecticut, an MBA from Syracuse University, and a BA in Business Administration from Addis Ababa University. He is Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) by APICS.

Research


Dr. Ayanso’s research interests are in data management, business analytics, electronic commerce, and electronic government. He has published many articles in leading journals such as European Journal of Operational Research, Decision Support Systems, Journal of Database Management, Communications of the AIS, International Journal of Electronic Commerce, Journal of Computer Information Systems, Government Information Quarterly, AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interaction, Information Technology for Development, and in Proceedings of major international conferences in information systems and related fields.

Dr. Ayanso's research in data management and business analytics focuses on efficient search and retrieval methods for customer-centric exploratory database queries in application domains such as product recommendation and business intelligence systems. This research has been funded by a Discovery Research Grant by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada. His research in the electronic commerce and electronic government involves several colleagues at Brock University as well as researchers in the U.S.A., and primarily investigates Web-based technologies and functionalities and their impacts on business performance. His current related studies include topics such as search engine advertising, the role of social media technologies and applications in the commercial as well as public sector, and methods for profiling and measuring ICT positions and e-government readiness of world nations.
